چکیده
As the centerpiece of ecosystems and human societies, river basins are complex social–ecological systems (SESs) that depend on natural flow regime hydrologic variability to adapt changes absorb disturbances. Anthropogenic climate change disturbances destabilize systems. Therefore, a resilience question arises: What is carrying capacity basin, i.e., how much disturbance can basin take until system undergoes shift? To answer this question, study aims identify shifts, thresholds, transboundary Rio Grande–Rio Bravo (RGB) using 110 years monthly streamflow data. address research first, gauged (regulated) naturalized data collected; if flows not available, they calculated through naturalization. Second, standardization estimated drought index. Third, shift assessment performed Fisher Index, fourth, nonparametric Mann-Kendall test used assess Sustainable Regime Hypothesis which evaluates shifts alternative regimes. Results demonstrate thresholds surpassed, including early warning signals, occurred in multiple locations basin. The present highlights importance assessing basin; hence, evaluating transitions, identifying signals critical managing for sustainability ecological SESs. Looking ahead, integration theory into water management has potential recognize sustainable at local, regional, international scale.

Early warning signals of regime shifts in coupled human-environment systems.
In complex systems, a critical transition is a shift in a system's dynamical regime from its current state to a strongly contrasting state as external conditions move beyond a tipping point. These transitions are often preceded by characteristic early warning signals such as increased system variability. However, early warning signals in complex, coupled human-environment systems (HESs) remain ...

Streamflow forecasting has an important role in water resource management (e.g. flood control, drought management, reservoir design, etc.). In this paper, the application of Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is used for long-term streamflow forecasting (monthly, seasonal) and moreover, cross-validation method (K-fold) is investigated to evaluate test-training data in the model.Then,...

متن کاملRecent Trends in Precipitation and Streamflow in the Rio Puerco Basin
River systems in semiarid regions are susceptible to rapid and dramatic channel erosion and arroyo formation. Climate plays an important role in arroyo development through changes in precipitation intensity, seasonality, and variability. Here, trends in precipitation and streamflow at the annual, monthly, and daily timescales for the last 50 yr are analyzed for the Rio Puerco Basin in northwest...
